Resident of Chechnya is accused of recruiting young people into the ranks of militants

In Chechnya, investigating bodies are considering a criminal case opened against a local resident, accused of recruiting young people into the ranks of the militants for taking part in the warfare in Syria.

A source from the Investigating Department for Chechnya of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that for assistance to terrorist activities the defendant faces a punishment of 5-10 years in prison.

"A criminal case has been opened against Adam Khaidaev under Part 1, Article 205.1, of the Criminal Code (inclination, recruiting or other involvement of a person in the commission of crimes, arming or training of a person to commit crimes, as well as financing terrorism)," said the source.

"Investigators have established that within several months of last year the defendant accused for, persuaded at least seven residents of Chechnya to participation in illegal armed formations (IAFs) in the territory of a foreign state; in particular, to participation in the warfare in Syria," he said.

Let us remind you that December 28, a criminal case against a local resident Magomed Makaev was sent to the city court of Urus-Martan. According to investigators, he had supplied an IAF member with foodstuffs and clothes.
