Dagestan: power agents detain father of alleged suicide bomber

Elzhan Talibov, 46, the father of Admir Talibov, suspected of triggering an explosion at the GIBDD (traffic police) checkpoint, was brought to the ROVD (District Interior Division) of Derbent, said a law enforcement source from Dagestan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that a car was blasted at the checkpoint near the village of Djemikent in the morning of February 15. The information about two killed and 18 wounded persons has been officially confirmed. Other sources report about four casualties, including the suicide bomber.

The man, who committed the explosion of a car at the GIBDD checkpoint in the Derbent District on February 15, was pre-identified as Admir Talibov, a native of Dagestan and a student of the Astrakhan University. According to power agents, he was a supporter of the ideology of the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS).

According to a law enforcement source, "in the course of personal search some 30 various calibre cartridges were found on Elzhan Talibov and confiscated."

"A criminal case was opened against him under the article of "illegal purchase, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or carrying firearms, their main parts and ammunition". Investigators are working with the detainee; the freedom restriction measure in relation of Talibov is not yet defined," the "Life News" quotes its law enforcement source in Dagestan.

Elzhan Talibov was taken for questioning to the ROVD of Derbent, the "Komsomolskaya Pravda in Stavropol" reports citing its law enforcement source in Dagestan.
